Lex is facilitating their workshop, “Creating Affirming Spaces: Understanding Gender and Sexuality & Best Practices” for Best Friends Animal Society’s Pride event on 6/28!
For this year’s Annual Pride Celebration, Best Friends is excited to welcome LGBTQ+ Educator and Consultant Lex Horwitz (they/them) as our featured guest speaker. The presentation will include a short history of the origins of Pride, brief reflections on the ways Pride’s origin story still shapes our individual/collective stories, and pro-tips for creating affirming spaces at the macro, micro, and individual levels. Lex will also offer actionable recommendations for LGBTQ+ staff to practice self-care + advocacy and actionable strategies for allies who seek to partner with queer communities in the quest to create affirming spaces where everyone’s entire being is celebrated.
