“We look at creating internal school practices that looks at what are our values and how do we put them into practice. How do we ensure that we are creating space where all marginalized identities can show up as their true selves,” Horwitz said. “Even if the overarching governing bodies do not support trans athletes what can we do to support them? There are so many pieces involved that there is no one way to do this.”

“There’s not one way to be a woman, and there’s not one way to be a man, whether you are cisgender, or transgender, and there’s not one way to be non-binary or gender expansive, so upholding these binaries and rigid ideals for what it means to be a specific gender is harming all of us, we deserve to have the freedom and the space to exist in ways that are authentic and affirming for us,” said Lex Horwitz.
