Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Sport
In October of 2021, Lex Horwitz (they/them) developed and presented a two part lecture series for Connecticut College’s “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Sport” course.
In their classes, Lex worked with students to build an inclusive and affirming foundation for understanding gender, which was then used to engage in conversation on transgender athletes and the “debate” about “fairness” in sport.
Through their lecture series, students gained the foundational information needed to engage in critical conversation on gender, and how gender directly impacts athletics with a focus on the experiences of transgender and gender diverse athletes.
